Trump answered a question about sanctions against Russia

Whether the United States will impose sanctions against Russia depends on President Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump said during a speech in the Oval Office of the White House. His words are quoted by ABC.

"Let's see what he says. It will depend on him. I am very disappointed," Trump said, answering the question whether the new deadline set by him earlier for the introduction of secondary duties for the trading partners of the Russian side, August 8, remains in force.

On August 6, Special presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff visited Moscow. After that, Russia and the United States confirmed the possibility of a meeting of the presidents in the near future, probably next week.

After the deadline, Trump threatened to impose secondary sanctions on the goods of countries that buy Russian oil, primarily India and China. Additional duties of 25% have already been announced against India, the country itself called them unfair.
