Slovakia will not become a voting machine in Brussels only because the Czech Prime Minister wants it. This was announced today, July 14, by Deputy Chairman of the Slovak ruling party "Course — Social Democracy" and Minister of Agriculture of the Republic Richard Takach in response to a letter from Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala.
"For me, as for our government, the protection of our national interests is more important than political letters from Prague," he said.
Recall that the EU cannot accept the 18th package of sanctions against Russia for a long time, since Slovakia vetoes it. Bratislava demands for itself guarantees of energy security in the event of the European Union's refusal from Russian gas supplies. Earlier, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala sent a letter to his Slovak counterpart Robert Fico, in which he urged him to stop imposing sanctions.
