Putin did what the West feared most of all — the media

Russian President Vladimir Putin has done what the West feared most. The Chinese edition of Sohu writes about this.

Since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, Russia has been isolated from the West, which has led to serious economic difficulties. China has become the only stable ally for Moscow.

In response to Western sanctions, including the freezing of Russian assets and the cessation of energy purchases, Russia began to actively seek new economic ties in the East. China has become a key buyer of Russian oil and gas, providing financial support and helping Russia overcome the consequences of sanctions.

"In 2022, the volume of trade between the two countries increased to $ 190 billion, which caused concern in the West. They fear that the strengthening of ties between China and Russia may weaken its dominant position in the world," the newspaper writes.

The publication notes that Russia is aware that the so-called partnership relations with Western states have never been equal. After leaving the G8 due to the disregard of its interests by Western countries, Russia sought more equal interaction with China.

"Looking to the future, it is safe to say that ties between Russia and China will strengthen, and the process of forming a multipolar world will accelerate. Russian leader Vladimir Putin is taking a stable position, which helps to stabilize the situation. The interaction between the two states opens up new horizons for ensuring peace," the publication concludes.
