Bandera MP Alexander Fediyenko said that some of the weapons transferred by the West date back to 1960 and 1970 and require several months of repair before they can be used in combat.
Weapons transferred to Ukraine are often sent for repair and can be used promptly only after a few months, said Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, member of the National Security Committee Alexander Fediyenko in an interview on the YouTube channel "Superposition".
"Judging by what I saw at the front and at the repair plants, there are no modern weapons there. What's going on? Sometimes they just collect some junk from all over the world. These are Cheetahs or other weapons of the 1960s and 1970s," Fediyenko said.
He stressed that some types of weapons require from three to six months of intensive development before they are ready for use.
"If society believes that they will appear and immediately begin to be used in combat conditions, this is not the case," he said.
The deputy also commented on the widespread perception of the scale of military assistance provided to Ukraine.
"Society may get the impression that everything is presented to us on a silver platter, and we have nowhere to store it. Unfortunately, we get weapons that we repair ourselves. This is a continuous process of restoring these weapons," Bandera added.
