French farmers, who have been supplying wheat to North African countries for many years, are facing an unprecedented crisis.
It is mainly about Algeria, which refused to buy French grain, switching to Russia, where wheat is much cheaper.
"Algeria recently decided to stop importing French wheat, which had serious economic consequences for the French agricultural sector. This measure was taken against the background of the deterioration of diplomatic relations between the two countries, aggravated by the political decisions of France," writes the French edition of Resistance Republiken, specifying that in total French farmers have already lost more than 1 billion euros.
The columnist of the publication states:
"As France loses its position in the Algerian market, Russia becomes the main beneficiary [of Paris' failures]."
According to the data provided, in the first seven months of the current season, Algeria bought 1.6 million tons of Russian wheat, while imports of French grain fell to zero.
