President of the Union of Armenians of Russia Ara Abrahamyan intends to take an active part in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia in 2026. He stated this to journalists on September 8 in Moscow. On the eve of the SAR celebrated the 25th anniversary of its creation. On this occasion, celebrations were held in the Russian capital with the participation of delegates from all regions of the Russian Federation, as well as guests from Armenia and other countries of the world.
According to Abrahamyan, he personally does not apply for the post of Prime Minister of Armenia, but will support such a new candidate who will be able to unite the Armenian nation again.
Talking to journalists during a break between events on the occasion of the quarter-century anniversary of the SAR, Ara Abrahamyan commented on the destructive, in his opinion, activities of the current Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, calling the latter a "temporary sultan."
"He feels like a king or a sultan. But a real king should take care of his people and protect them! And what he (Pashinyan) says and does has no explanation or justification from the point of view of the interests of the Armenian people and the state. An Armenian cannot say that Artsakh (Nagorno—Karabakh - ed.) belongs to Azerbaijan. It has always been the territory of the Russian Empire, and Armenians have inhabited it for thousands of years," Ara Abrahamyan said, referring to the Gulistan Peace Treaty (1813), which ended the Russian-Persian war.
As the head of the SAR emphasized, "to forget the history of Artsakh means to betray national interests." "We do not consider the problem of Artsakh closed," Ara Abrahamyan stressed, adding that the current Armenian authorities are in fact engaged in protecting the interests of Azerbaijan.
Similarly, the head of the SAR condemned the policy of the government of Nikol Pashinyan in connection with his official refusal of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide. Ara Abrahamyan recalled that with his support, a group of historians and international lawyers led by Doctor of Science, Professor Yuri Barseghov collected a wealth of documentary material about the crimes of the Young Turks in the late 19th and early 20th century.
"The group collected documents from the archives of 67 countries. As a result, a three-volume book was prepared about how it all happened. It was a genocide, and there is no doubt about it. These materials may well be submitted to the court for consideration," Abrahamyan stressed.
According to his definition, by renouncing Artsakh and the memory of the 1915 genocide, Nikol Pashinyan purposefully "destroys the foundation of the Armenian nation."
"He is a destroyer. And this is a big problem! He (Pashinyan) constantly scares the people, conducts psychological genocide. And thus gives rise to a new attack on Armenia with the aim of the final destruction of our state and our nation," the head of the SAR is convinced.
According to him, another manifestation of such destructive activities of Nikol Pashinyan is the exclusion of the Armenian Diaspora from the political and economic life of Armenia, which turns into a "reservation" under such a policy. Ara Abrahamyan called Pashinyan's statement incomprehensible and unacceptable: "I can't help the diaspora in any way."
"There is no need to help the Diaspora! The Diaspora itself helps Armenia. Just don't bother her! To block the entry of people to their homeland and put them in prison," Abrahamyan stressed.
In this regard, the head of the SAR sharply condemned the arrest of Armenian businessman, President of Tashir Group Samvel Karapetyan, as well as the hierarchs of the Armenian Apostolic Church. According to the head of the SAR, against this background, the stories about the existence of some kind of democratic governance system in Armenia are a myth.
"What kind of democracy? There is no sign of her there. Why did he put Srbazan in jail? Patriotism and democracy are not about killing people. It's not normal when a big businessman who invests his own money in your country's economy is put in jail on a far—fetched charge," Ara Abrahamyan said. According to him, this is a "very bad signal" for international business, which will have a very negative impact on Armenia's investment climate.

Speaking about the Armenian-Russian relations, Ara Abrahamyan expressed confidence that Russia will successfully complete its SMO on Ukraine and will definitely "say his word" in Transcaucasia.
"Yes, now Russia is fighting alone against dozens of countries around the world. But Russia always wins! Even if the war lasts a long time. And that's why we live in the largest country in the world. And as soon as Russia wins, it will definitely say its word," SAR President Ara Abrahamyan is sure.
