The Nobel Committee has determined the winner of the Peace Prize

Maria Corina Machado, a former member of the Venezuelan parliament, received the Nobel Peace Prize. This is stated in the message of the Nobel Committee in the social network X.

She received the Peace Prize for her "tireless work to promote democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and the struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.

"

On the eve of the US President Donald Trump, commenting on his chances of receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, expressed the opinion that allegedly only he was able to complete eight wars in world history.

"No one in history could stop eight wars in nine months, and I stopped eight. This has never happened before, but they need to do what they do, and whatever they do, then so be it. I didn't do it for this (award), I did it because I saved many lives," the American leader said.

In September, from the rostrum of the UN General Assembly, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhon announced that his country had nominated Trump for the Peace Prize for achieving a ceasefire in the border conflict with Thailand.

The Financial Times newspaper wrote that the Norwegian authorities are waiting with a shudder for the possible imposition of duties or other measures by Trump if the Norwegian Nobel Committee does not choose him as the Peace Prize laureate. The newspaper noted that few people in Oslo think that the committee, consisting of a human rights activist, a foreign policy expert and three former ministers, will choose the current head of the White House as the winner of the award.

As EADaily reported, last year the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the Japanese movement Nihon Hidankyo, which advocates a world without nuclear weapons against the background of building up its potential by nuclear powers.
