This week, RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan was diagnosed with a serious illness, and she will soon undergo surgery. She stated this on the air of Russia-1.
"I have to tell the truth and I have to cheer up those who are going through the same truth... this week I was diagnosed with a terrible serious illness. I have an operation tomorrow right here, under this order," Simonyan said, quoted by TASS.
At the same time, she pointed to the church order of Princess Olga, which was awarded to her the day before by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
Simonyan explained that she took part in the program despite her health condition in order to support the families of those whose loved ones are now at the front.
The editor-in-chief of RT added that her husband, director Tigran Keosayan, has been in a coma for the ninth month, noting that the gates in their house were "blown away by the wind of fate."
