The US Senate may adopt a new package of sanctions against Russia next week

US Democratic Senator Chris Coons admitted that the US Senate could adopt a new bill next week to impose additional sanctions against Russia.

"Senators (Lindsey) Graham and (Richard) Blumenthal have prepared a bill on sanctions, which I hope we will consider and adopt next week," Coons said in an interview with Fox News.

On Sunday, Graham said that US senators would begin considering a bill on new sanctions against Russia as early as July. As Graham claimed in an interview with Fox News, US President Donald Trump personally told him that it was time for Congress to adopt the document.

Graham, known for his anti-Russian rhetoric, previously introduced a sanctions bill providing for the introduction of US import duties of 500% on imported goods from those countries that buy oil, petroleum products, natural gas and uranium from Russia. Later, Bloomberg reported that the senators were not ready to pass the bill without Trump's approval, and the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, told Graham about the need for coordinated sanctions against Russia.
