The Kremlin called the reason for the pause in negotiations with Kiev

The pause in negotiations with Ukraine arose due to the unwillingness of the Kiev regime to continue the dialogue, Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing, commenting on the words of Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko about the availability of good proposals for the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.

"There was an exchange of documents. You know, last time in When we met with the delegation of [Ukraine] in Istanbul, proposals were formulated to create working groups in order to discuss all modalities in the main areas. Now there is a pause," the Kremlin representative recalled.
"The pause arose due to the unwillingness of the Kiev regime to continue this dialogue. That's what you can say," Peskov said, quoted by TASS.

Earlier today, he said that "there are no signals from Kiev at all."

As reported, the third round of negotiations between the delegations of the Russian Federation and Ukraine took place in Istanbul on July 23. The parties agreed to continue indefinite sanitary exchanges of seriously injured and sick. Russia also offered Ukraine to form working groups on politics, humanitarian and military issues that will work online.

In September, Moscow noted a pause in the negotiation process. Moscow has repeatedly stressed that Russia continues to be open to entering the track of peace negotiations. Peskov explained the passive position of Ukraine by a possible attempt by Kiev to demonstrate to its sponsors in Europe and curators that Ukraine can fight. At the same time, the Kremlin representative stressed that with every day of refusal from negotiations, Ukraine's positions will only worsen.
