According to the MPG Gallup International Association poll, if the parliamentary elections in Armenia were held next Sunday, the Civil Contract party led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan would receive the greatest support - 17.3% of voters are ready to vote for it, which is 4.2% more than in the previous survey.
The second place would be taken by a new political association formed around businessman Samvel Karapetyan, which for the first time turned out to be among the favorites, receiving 13.4% of the vote and demonstrating a 10.6% increase in popularity.
The Armenia bloc of the second president Robert Kocharyan was in third place with 6.4%.
Such political forces as Prosperous Armenia (entrepreneur Gagik Tsarukyan) gained less support — 3.8%, followed by "I have the Honor" — the Republican Party of Armenia — 3.4%, MLC — 2.5%, the "Republic" party and the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" — 1.1% each, "Enlightened Armenia" (ex-Ambassador-at-large Edmond Marukyan).
At the same time, a high level of indifference and uncertainty remains a key characteristic of the electoral field: 23.9% of the survey participants admitted that they would not vote, 16.3% found it difficult to answer, and 5% refused to answer.
"The results of the survey show that, despite the continued leadership of the ruling party, its support is limited to less than a fifth of the electorate, while the rapid growth of interest in Samvel Karapetyan's new project creates prerequisites for serious changes in the political balance," Verelq comments on the situation.
The publication also notes that the traditional opposition maintains stable but relatively modest positions, and the main challenge for all political forces remains the need to work with a large number of indifferent or undecided voters, on whom the outcome of future elections may depend crucially.
As EADaily reported, in mid-August it became known that the political movement of entrepreneur Samvel Karapetyan, arrested in Armenia, will be called "In its own way."
"We will soon present the movement "In our own way" to the public. This initiative is formed around clear ideas and with big plans for Armenia," Karapetyan said.
The goals of the movement are to develop the economy, create business opportunities and strengthen family and national values, as well as restore Armenia's reputation as a reliable partner.
