Lavrov: Provocations against the DPRK may end badly

Russia will ensure the legitimate rights of its ally the DPRK and will not allow provocations. This was announced today, July 11, by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a press conference following the Russia—ASEAN meeting and the ministerial meeting of the EAC member countries.

"We have outlined the need to avoid any provocative actions, which, unfortunately, continue with regard to the DPRK, including by strengthening the military alliances of the United States, South Korea, and Japan.
More and more large-scale military exercises are being held, and even with a nuclear component. So this is also such a serious conflict potential here. We will do everything possible to ensure the legitimate rights of our North Korean allies and prevent provocations that could end badly," Lavrov said.

As EADaily reported, this week Sergey Lavrov will visit North Korea and China. The DPRK will host the second round of negotiations at the level of foreign ministers, and a meeting of the foreign ministers of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be held in the Chinese city of Tianjin on July 14-15.
