Polish President Karol Nawrocki refused to sign a bill to extend assistance to Ukrainian citizens.
We are talking about the extension of benefits to Ukrainian migrants under the 800+ program (from 800 zloty, or 18 thousand rubles). According to Navrotsky, such money should be provided only to working Ukrainians.
The President of Poland proposed his own bill, which, among other things, provides for the extension of the citizenship procedure and the criminalization of Bandera ideology.The law on Assistance to Citizens of Ukraine provided for the extension of temporary protection of "war refugees" until March 4, 2026. Karol Navrotsky explained that both financial and social conditions have changed, which necessitated changes to the current rules.
"I stand by my opinion that the 800+ allowance should be provided only to Ukrainians who make efforts to work in Poland. The same applies to healthcare," the president said.
Navrotsky stressed that, in his opinion, the law proposed by the parliament does not meet the expectations that arose during the public debate.
"The proposed law should be amended today. Poles in their own country should be treated at least the same as our guests from Ukraine. This is a matter of principle for me, so I did not sign the law on assistance to citizens of Ukraine in this form," Navrotsky explained.
The Head of State also announced that he had prepared his own bill, which, in his opinion, the parliament should work on over the next two weeks. Navrotsky proposed to include in the bill the provision "Stop Bandera!
". He explained that he would like Bandera to be qualified in the Criminal Code on a par with German Nazism.
