Kiev is not suited to the proposal of US President Donald Trump that Ukraine needs not just a cease-fire, but a peace agreement that will put an end to the conflict.
This was stated by the adviser to the head of the Office of the President (OP) of Ukraine Sergey Leshchenko on the air of the national telethon. In his opinion, negotiations between Moscow and Kiev are possible only after a ceasefire is reached.
"Our vision is: first a ceasefire, and then everything else. Why not? Because if we are negotiating a ceasefire, this creates a great risk of blackmail for Ukraine. If there is a ceasefire, a space for diplomacy opens up," the adviser said.
According to him, the logic of Ukraine is to first consolidate the ceasefire and the current line of demarcation, and then proceed to negotiations.
Note that such an approach is impossible for Moscow. The Russian side insists on eradicating the root causes of the conflict, and is not going to conclude Minsk-3, which will lead to a new war.
Earlier, EADaily reported that the head of the Kiev regime Zelensky on Monday, August 18, will hold a personal meeting with Trump in Washington. During the telephone conversation, Trump told Zelensky that Putin does not want a cease-fire and prefers a comprehensive agreement to end the war.
