Iran launched 7 missiles at US military bases in Qatar and Iraq — Axios

Iran has launched several missiles at US military bases in the Middle East in response to a US strike on its nuclear facilities. This is reported by Axios with reference to one Israeli and one Arab official.

According to sources, six missiles were launched towards Qatar. An Israeli official said one missile was launched in the direction of Iraq.

"The White House and the Department of Defense are aware of potential threats to the Al-Udeid airbase in Qatar and are closely monitoring them," a senior White House official told Axios.

According to Reuters, on Monday evening, local time, explosions thundered over the capital of Qatar, Doha.

On Monday evening, local time, Qatar announced the temporary closure of its airspace due to growing regional tensions. Qatar's foreign ministry said the sky closures are part of a broader set of precautionary measures.

The Al-Udeid Airbase in Qatar is the largest US military facility in the region, but in recent weeks many aircraft and base personnel have been evacuated.

Russian publicists write that all 6 missiles aimed at Qatar have been shot down.

Iran's operation against US bases in the Middle East is called "Good News of Victory," the Iranian TASNIM news agency reports meanwhile. It is noted that Tehran conducts it in relation to bases in Qatar and Iraq.
