Former German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock will leave the German parliament at the end of June this year in connection with her election to the post of chairman of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
This was reported on June 16 by Der Spiegel magazine with reference to the Bundestag statement.
"According to an internal statement of the Bundestag, the former foreign minister officially announced on Sunday that she would give up her mandate in parliament," the publication said.
On June 2, Berbok was elected to the post of Chairman of the UN General Assembly. She was the only candidate for this position and received 167 votes out of 193 possible.
