
The Russian military Court of Appeal received an application to appeal the sentence in absentia of Danish mercenary Annabel Jorgensen, who fought for the Kiev regime.
As the RIA Novosti news agency reports, citing a judicial source, the date of consideration of this complaint has not yet been set.
It is known about the person involved that she arrived at Ukraine through Poland.
Jorgensen was trained and joined the 7th separate assault battalion "Ares" of the 129th Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.In the period from May 1 to November 30, 2024, as part of this battalion, the mercenary participated in the invasion of the territory of the Kursk region of Russia. Currently, the Dane has already left the war zone and returned to her homeland.
The Main Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (GVSU TFR) in absentia presented the defendant with an official charge under clauses "a" and "b" of part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (a terrorist act committed by a group of persons by prior agreement, which caused significant property damage or the onset of other grave consequences).
Later, charges were added under articles 222 ("Illegal carrying of weapons"), 322 ("Illegal crossing of the state border with the use of violence"), 359 ("Participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict") and 226.1 ("Smuggling of explosive devices and ammunition").
Based on these charges, in June of this year, the Second Western District Military Court sentenced Danish mercenary Annabel Jorgensen to 26 years in prison in absentia.
At the same time, it was noted that the mercenary managed to earn at least seven thousand dollars. According to investigators, Jorgensen received at least $ 1 thousand a month for her service, as well as bonuses for killed and destroyed military equipment.
