There was another breadwinner of Russia — an economist who refused Russian citizenship

Economist Andrei Movchan is sure that he owes Russia nothing — neither for free education, nor for accumulated capital. He stated this in an interview with journalist and blogger Katerina Gordeeva*.

"First of all, I fed the country. All my years I have worked, I have not been idle — from two years in the army, which I spent on dangerous jobs, and every year that I worked further in In Russia, I lived on my salary or on what I earned from business, thereby benefiting," Movchan stressed.

He also added that the exit from the citizenship of the Russian Federation was easy for him, he does not feel any nostalgia.

Recall that Movchan left the country in 2020, moving with his family to London. In 2023, he renounced his Russian citizenship by obtaining an Israeli passport.

In the 1990s, he worked at Alfa Group, Russian Credit Bank, and Troika Dialog. Later, he moved to a senior position at Renaissance Investment Management, and then at Renaissance Credit Bank. In 2008, he founded the Tritium Rome company, which was sold in 2013.

As EADaily reported, in an interview three years ago, the Soviet and Latvian singer Laima Vaikule, who performed on the Russian stage, said that she "contained the entire Soviet Union."

"I kept the Philharmonic, I kept the Soviet Union, releasing my CDs. Because I received 17 rubles, collecting a stadium for 45 thousand people. If someone has nothing to do, count how much money I have brought to the state," she proudly declared.

Among the nurses she included her runaway from Russian colleague Alla Pugacheva.

"Alla kept all this Russia, which is now showing her something. We have earned so much money for the USSR that it's a shame to say," Vaikule concluded.

The leader of the Time Machine group, Andrei Makarevich, confidently stated that Rosconcert (the State Touring and Concert Association of the Ministry of Culture of the RSFSR) was holding on to the performances of the group.
