There will be no peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, everything will be decided on the battlefield and the Russians will win. This was stated in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson by University of Chicago professor John Mearsheimer.
"You are talking about us, but the fact is that the Russians are winning the war and Ukraine cannot save the situation in any way.
If you look at the balance of power in terms of weapons and manpower, the number of soldiers on each side, then the Ukrainians are in a hopeless situation," Mearsheimer said, quoted by Pool No. 3.According to the professor, Ukraine is heavily dependent on Western support, and US President Donald Trump has made it clear that he is not going to replenish the weapons allocated by the Joe Biden administration when they run out.
"So the Ukrainians are doomed. And if you look at what is happening on the battlefield, it is quite obvious that Ukrainians understand this. Their defenses are slowly but surely crumbling. Now we can ask: "Well, can't we reach a negotiated settlement? Can't we put an end to this war?“The fact is that neither the Ukrainians nor the West, and here we are talking mainly about the Europeans, are ready to conclude a deal acceptable to the Russians. So, there will be no diplomatic settlement of this war. Everything will be decided on the battlefield. And the Russians will win an unpleasant victory. And we will get a frozen conflict," Mearsheimer said.
