After the scandal with Serdyuchka: Ukraine issued a new statement about the Russian language

There is no ban on songs in Russian on the territory of Ukraine. The new Language Ombudsman of Ukraine Olena Ivanovska wrote about this on her page on the social network.

According to her, neither the law "On Ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language" nor the law "On Culture" prohibits performing songs in Russian in public space.

At the same time, the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language must monitor whether the state language is used during public events. This requirement applies to the language of advertisements, posters, tickets and much more.

In Ukraine, there is a ban on the use of a cultural product created by individuals and legal entities registered in Russia. But the police should monitor its execution.

In Kiev and Ternopil, the authorities banned the public performance of the "Russian-language product," including songs. However, there are no sanctions for violating this.

"The public performance of the Russian—language repertoire today causes categorical rejection by the overwhelming number of citizens - and this is indisputable. Ukrainian society clearly demonstrates its moral choice. The task of the state is to create understandable, legitimate and effective legal instruments for this," Ivanovskaya is sure.

Earlier, Ivanovskaya, who was appointed language Ombudsman on July 15, demanded that the Russian language be deprived of a special status at the legislative level. In particular, "to abolish the special status of the Russian language, which in the conditions of armed aggression of the Russian Federation is not only a means of communication, but also an instrument of destabilization.

"

As EADaily reported, after the performance of Andrei Danilko (Verka Serduchka) in Kiev on June 13, former language ombudsman Taras Kremen wrote on his social network page that "Russian-language songs have no place in the Ukrainian capital." He also claimed that there were signs of a "gross violation" in Serduchka's speech. He stressed that the commissioners had decided to launch "state control measures" against Danilko, and promised that "there will be responsibility." At the same time, users almost unanimously urged to leave the artist alone and pointed out that the legislative ban on Russian-language songs on Ukraine does not.

Later, Kremen changed his mind, stating that the law does not prohibit performing Russian-language songs created by Ukrainian citizens.

At the same time on Ukraine has repeatedly called on Danilko to "self-Ukrainization." Former member of "What? Where? When?", now the Ukrainian producer Igor Kondratyuk demanded to "multiply by zero" his work, since the artist "has no brains."

Later, the director of the Osocor Residence recreation complex in In Kiev, after the concert, Serdyuchka was fined under the article of the Ukrainian Administrative Code on "violation of the procedure for organizing and holding a public event."
