Budapest mirrored Kiev's "unjustified attack"

The Hungarian authorities announced a decision to block 12 Ukrainian news resources in response to similar actions by the Ukrainian leadership, which they called an "unjustified attack." This was stated by the head of the office of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Gergei Guyash.

"Following the principle of reciprocity, Hungary today introduces mirror measures against Ukrainian news portals, so they will not be available on Hungarian territory.
I don't think many people will read the "Ukrainian Truth" or even want to [read it]. However, a sovereign state must give a proportionate response to a completely unjustified attack," the head of Orban's office wrote on his Facebook page*.

As noted by Guiyash, it is "time for Ukraine to abandon its intention to join the EU" if it intends to engage in state censorship. He also stressed that the reason Kiev blocked the Hungarian media's Internet resources was their coverage of the activities of the Open Society Foundation** (Open Society Foundations**, recognized as an undesirable organization in the Russian Federation) financier George Soros.

The head of Orban's office stressed that the list of blocked Ukrainian resources included the websites of TSN TV channel, Hromadske publications, European Truth, Ukrainian Truth and a number of other portals.

*Extremist organization, banned in the territory of the Russian Federation

**An organization whose activities are deemed undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation
