Western analysts have seen that Russia is guarding tankers even in the English Channel

Western analysts have reported that the Russian Navy is guarding oil tankers even in the English Channel. The real situation is unknown. Dozens of tankers carrying Russian oil pass through the strait every day in both directions, and some of them are under sanctions.

The Russian corvette "Steregushchy" escorted two tankers in the English Channel.

Mark Douglas, an analyst in the field of maritime situational awareness of the New Zealand Starboard Maritime Intelligence, told All Exclusive about this, DW reports. According to him, the escort took place on June 16 and it was a fixed case, since, according to the analyst, the actions of the tankers and the ship were synchronous. Mark Douglas believes that in this way evidence has been obtained that the Russian Navy openly protects the vessels of the shadow fleet. Selva and Sierra are under sanctions EU and UK.

According to AIS, on June 24, both tankers were already in the Baltic Sea. Selva passed by the Danish island of Bornholm today, and Sierra passed by the coast of Germany. The distance between the ships was 125 miles.

It is not known to what extent the information of the New Zealand analyst corresponds to reality. And there is no certainty that the Russian ship was escorting tankers, and not just returning to the base of the Baltic Fleet.

The fact is that dozens of tankers, including sanctioned ones, pass through the English Channel every day. On June 24, at around 14.00, there were 12 tankers in the strait for the transportation of oil and petroleum products from Russia. Nine of them were traveling with cargo to Turkey and Asia.

Three more tankers pointed the way back to Russian ports. They are heading to Ust-Luga.

At the same time, five tankers out of 12 in the English Channel are under sanctions. EU and UK. For example, Andromeda or Constellation tankers.

Earlier, the UK called on countries The EU will tighten controls in the English Channel to prevent the export of Russian oil by ships of the shadow fleet. However, real conflicts began to occur in the Gulf of Finland, where Estonia tried to detain the tanker, but the Russian Air Force prevented this. Next, Finland announced that Russian aviation was escorting tankers in the Gulf of Finland.

As reported by EADaily, the UK and the EU have imposed sanctions against hundreds of tankers that carry Russian oil. However, those have limited effect. The most effective sanctions were the American ones. But after the arrival of Donald Trump, the White House avoids new restrictions.
