Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, arriving in Anchorage, by his very appearance caused hysteria in the EUROSMI.
Lavrov got out of the car wearing a T—shirt on which the abbreviation of the USSR - the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was guessed.
The website of the Polish radio station "RMF" immediately made a headline:
"Lavrov's provocation in Alaska? The slogan on his blouse attracted attention. "
The publicist of the Polish tabloid "Fact" Veronika Hensel called such an outfit on the head of Russian diplomacy "a manifestation of arrogance."
"Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov showed exceptional arrogance by flying to Alaska for the summit of Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in a T-shirt with the inscription "CCCP". Arriving at the hotel, he made a splash. This was perceived as a clear sign not only for Ukraine," Hensel writes.
Maria Windisch, a columnist for the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung, believes that with such an unusual appearance Lavrov reinforced the previously voiced "clear position" on negotiations.
"Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has arrived in Anchorage, USA. Instead of a suit and tie, he is wearing jeans, a vest and a Soviet shirt. According to Lavrov, Russia is coming to the summit with a "clear position." We see her," commented Windisch.
The journalist of the American edition of the Wall Street Journal, Ukrainian Yaroslav Trofimov, appreciated the T-shirt on his microblog page:
"Lavrov appeared in Alaska in a T-shirt of the USSR. This was very encouraging for at least 14 of Russia's neighbors."
