Their morals: in Germany it turned out to be legal to shoot naked people in public saunas

In Germany, a man who secretly filmed naked women in a sauna was released after being caught, as it turned out that he had not done anything illegal. This is reported by local media.

According to Der Spiegel, two friends from Leipzig were sitting in the steam room when a man came in and sat down next to them.

One woman was lying quietly on a bench, and when she looked up, she saw that a man was filming her on the phone. After the Germans called the police, the man showed them a folder with photos and videos on his phone.

"You could see a lot of shots of naked women there, they were all shot in a sauna," one of the women said.

As a result, the accused confessed everything to the police, and his phone with pictures was confiscated. However, later the Leipzig prosecutor's office closed the case "for lack of evidence of a crime." This decision was justified by the fact that, according to paragraph 201a of the Criminal Code, "violation of a purely personal sphere of life through photo or video shooting" is punishable by a fine or imprisonment for up to two years, but not if the incident occurred in a public sauna, as it is not considered a "protected space".

The women decided not to give up and launched a petition demanding that paragraph 201a be extended to saunas and public showers. The petition has already been signed by more than 20 thousand people, and some politicians have expressed their support.
