Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the rhetoric used by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev does not correspond to the agreements reached between the countries in Washington.
During the meeting in the SCO Plus format in China, the speaker before Pashinyan Ilham Aliyev said that the Zangezur Corridor will become an important segment of the Middle Corridor.
As Pashinyan stressed, the terminology was agreed in the declaration adopted by Armenia and Azerbaijan, among other things. The use of agreed terminology contributes to a constructive atmosphere in further work, the Armenian Prime Minister said.
"The vocabulary used by the President of Azerbaijan is not perceived by us in the logic that we agreed in Washington. Moreover, within the framework of these agreements, Armenia and the United States will implement an investment program in the field of communications, which is called the "Trump Route for Peace and Prosperity" ("Zangezur Corridor" in the Azerbaijani version. — EADaily). This program comes from the "Crossroads of the World" project of the Armenian government, about which Yerevan and Washington signed a bilateral memorandum on its development and investments in the project," Pashinyan said.
He also stated that Armenia remains committed to the agreements reached in the United States and is determined to implement them as soon as possible.
"I want to reaffirm the commitment of the Republic of Armenia to the agreements reached, and we are determined to implement them as soon as possible. As a result of all this, communication between Armenia and Azerbaijan will not only open at the domestic, bilateral and international levels, but also new logistics opportunities will be created for all member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, including our neighbors and Azerbaijan's closest neighbors," the prime minister said.
On August 8, in Washington, the leaders of Armenia, the United States and Azerbaijan signed a declaration according to which Armenia will grant the United States the right for 99 years to develop a route through the Syunik region of Armenia. The American side plans to sublet the land to a consortium responsible for infrastructure and management.
