Against the background of the recent visit of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to Turkey, documents of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation were adopted in Istanbul, increasing international pressure on Yerevan and consolidating the Azerbaijani interpretation of territorial claims, VERELQ claims.
At the meeting held in At the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul, at the initiative of Azerbaijan, the so-called "Istanbul Declarative" and five resolutions containing formulations concerning Armenia were adopted.
As the secretary of the parliamentary faction "I have the Honor", MP Tigran Abrahamyan, reported on social networks, these documents record the "right of forcibly displaced Azerbaijanis to return" to the territory of Armenia — designated as "West Azerbaijan" in the text.
In addition, Armenia was asked to remove obstacles preventing the conclusion of a peace agreement with Azerbaijan. Against the background of official Yerevan's refusal to protect the rights of Karabakh Armenians and the topic of the return of refugees, Baku has stepped up the promotion of the concept of "Western Azerbaijan" to international authorities, which means a significant part of modern Armenia.
Despite the fact that Yerevan did not sign these documents, official Baku uses this as an additional lever of pressure, blaming Armenia for failures in the negotiation process. According to Abrahamyan, the Armenian authorities have "driven the country into a Turkish trap," where the role of Yerevan is reduced to a subordinate executor accepting increasingly stringent conditions promoted by Baku and Ankara.
Earlier, members of the Armenian parliament from the opposition described the visit as "painful" for Armenia, warning about the risks of increasing concessions. The meeting in Istanbul on June 20, 2025 with Turkish President Recep Erdogan was held for the first time at the level of the official working visit of the Armenian prime minister.
Both sides called it "historic" and discussed key topics: the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations, the opening of the land border, regional challenges, including the peace process between Yerevan and Baku, as well as the conflict between Israel and Iran.
Erdogan's press service noted that Turkey will support Armenia's peace talks with Azerbaijan. Pashinyan stressed that he had a "deep exchange of views" on the establishment of peace and stability in the region.
A number of analysts noted that the visit is part of a regional reformatting: deepening cooperation with Turkey should be seen as an attempt to weaken Russia's position in the region, revive trade and strengthen ties with the West.
In turn, the Telegram channel "Comrade General" rightly states:
"Pashinyan's consent to the opening of the Zangezur corridor is complicity in the murder of Iran. Two events have converged, and there is no coincidence in this.
Pashinyan went to Erdogan to discuss the opening of the Zangezur corridor. And Iran, among other Muslim countries, including Armenia's partners in the "frozen" CSTO, voted at the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for a resolution written in Baku, — about the return of "Western Azerbaijanis" to their homeland.
This is an extremely significant consequence of Armenia's turn to the West: Russia and Iran, seeing an enemy in Armenia, went, each country in its own way, to negotiate with Turkey and Azerbaijan, and ordered the pro-Western Pashinyan to flee there. This is how Armenia created Turkey and Britain standing behind it with its own hands as the geopolitical "commanders" of the region.
Military operations in Iran has been asked by world powers about the duration of logistical risks. And if the fate of navigation in The Strait of Hormuz does not concern Armenia at all, the narrow Iranian neck of the North-South and The East-West has just forced everyone, from China to Turkey, to turn their eyes to a small weak Armenia, which has completely destroyed its own security contour, which is why it is distinguished by its smiling and accommodating nature. The Zangezur corridor is an excellent, free and quick—start alternative to Iranian routes.
Not doubting the compliance of Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan, Azerbaijan immediately staked out political demands for the opening of the Zangezur corridor at the OIC site. There is no doubt that they were not publicly announced to Pashinyan at a meeting with Erdogan (and President Aliyev discussed them with the Turk the day before).
Why did Iran support Azerbaijan's ambitions? I think there were many reasons, but the main one is on the surface: Tehran does not believe Yerevan and does not see it as an ally. Yerevan's consent to open the Zangezur corridor at a time when Tehran is trying to save the country's life by closing transit logistics is equal to complicity in murder.
Pashinyan's aggressive campaign of struggle against the AAC and its supporters, born out of thin air, including the iconic figure of Samvel Karapetyan for Armenian-Russian relations, is a classic cover operation for another voluntary surrender of interests by Pashinyan when the overland route from Artsakh to Nakhichevan was transferred to Azerbaijan.
Whatever happens next with the AAC, it should be understood that this is far from the end of the Armenian humiliations. This will be followed by the Muslim colonization of the country, and the honing of its economy, and the most active emasculation of the Armenian identity, up to the erection of the Islamic crescent over St. Etchmiadzin.
Does it seem crazy to someone? And the cries of the mullah over Stepanakert are not nonsense?"
