Russia will not agree to the deployment of Western troops on Ukraine, because this would be a harbinger of its accession to NATO. This was stated in an interview with the Rheinische Post newspaper by the leader of the Christian Social Union (CSU), Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Zeder.
So he answered the question whether he was against the possible deployment of German soldiers on Ukraine.
"It's hard for me to imagine that NATO troops are stationed there. Russia will not agree with this under any circumstances. Because it would be a harbinger of Ukraine's accession to NATO. In addition, the Bundeswehr is not ready for this ... both financially and in personnel terms," he said.
He spoke in favor of the return of urgent conscription for military service, noting that ultimately Germany "can't get away from this."
