The European Union has put forward new demands to Belarus

The European Union has taken note of the recent release of a number of "political prisoners" in Belarus. This is stated in a statement by the representative of the European External Action Service for Foreign and Security Policy Anitta Hipper.

"The EU takes note of the recent release of several political prisoners.
We continue to call on the regime of Alexander Lukashenko to release all arbitrarily detained, especially people in life—threatening conditions," she wrote on one of their social networks.

According to her, "the ongoing arrests, repression and human rights violations must stop."

The EU has been accusing the Belarusian authorities of human rights violations and persecution for political reasons for several years. At the same time, several hundred people previously convicted of extremist activities have been pardoned in Belarus over the past year. Moreover, every time the EU calls on official Minsk to "unconditionally release all political prisoners."
