Romanian President Nicusor Dan will take part in the meeting of the European Council, which will be held on June 26-27 in Brussels. He hopes to meet with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to tell her about the political situation in the country.
Dan also intends to convince von der Leyen that the new government will be a reliable partner of the EU, including in matters of assistance to Ukraine and support for the Republic of Moldova.
The European Council will consider a wide range of strategic topics regarding the future of the European Union, as well as strengthening positions The EU at the global level.
"I hope that there will be a discussion with von der Leyen. We will discuss the political situation in Romania: I will explain what happened in the last two weeks, how the government was formed. We are serious people: since we have formed a government, we will keep our word. This is the main message," Dan said.
The presidential administration clarified that the president would confirm Romania's support for European initiatives aimed at helping Ukraine, and also ask the EU to demonstrate "firm support for Chisinau" on the eve of the EU—Republic of Moldova summit (to be held on July 4) and parliamentary elections in September.

Before the meeting of the heads of the European Union in In Brussels, the European Council stated that Romania has made limited progress in combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
This conclusion was reached by the Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Measures to Combat Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (MONEYVAL).
