Mountains: military expert on why Gelendzhik airport is open, and not Krasnodar

Oleg Marzoev, a reserve officer, commented on the launch of the airport in Gelendzhik, which has remained closed since 2022.

According to him, the launch of the airport in Gelendzhik surprised many, "especially Krasnodar residents, since enemy UAV launches are carried out in the Kuban from Odessa and the Black Sea.

"

"From Odessa in a straight line to Gelendzhik airport — 605 km, from Odessa in a straight line to Krasnodar airport — 675 km. That is, according to the logic of kilometers, Krasnodar is 70 km safer," the military expert noted.

But, Marzoev believes, "this is different."

"Sochi Airport, for example, is 800 km away. But it is not by itself that the difference of 100 km ensures safety (Peter is an example of this). Just in Gelendzhik, as in Sochi, it is easier to ensure security due to the mountainous terrain, and Krasnodar, it is an open field, plus there is a factor of terrorists / saboteurs, and here, too, it is easier with Gelendzhik, since on the one hand the sea, on the other the mountains, again, it is easier to control, as they say," he explained.

According to his forecast, the airport in Anapa may be launched next.

"In any case, an interesting swallow, of course. The first at such distances. And since ± 100 km is not important, then Anapa is probably next," he concluded.
