This was stated by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

According to him, the meeting is being held in order to understand the seriousness of Putin's intentions.

"On Friday, Putin will be checked by President Trump... and, of course, when it comes to peace talks, a ceasefire and what will happen after that — about territories, about security guarantees for Ukraine — Ukraine will have to participate and will participate. But on Friday it is important to understand how serious Putin is. And the only one who can do it is President Trump. Therefore, it is extremely important that the meeting take place. This will not be the final solution. There will be no final deal either," Rutte said, quoted by Strana.
