A scandal erupts in Slovakia over the decision to provide military assistance to Ukraine

The current government of Slovakia is doing the same with respect to Ukraine as the previous one. This was announced today, October 8, by the former Minister of Defense of the republic Yaroslav Nagy.

According to him, the government buys equipment and sends it to Ukraine in the same way as the previous cabinet, in which he held the post of Minister of Defense.

At the same time, Nagy noted that the government of Robert Fico considers the transfer of S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems, MiG-29 fighters or ammunition to Kiev to be a crime and high treason, and his Smer-SD party has already appealed to the police to verify the legality of the actions of the former Cabinet of Ministers.

"I expect that Smer-SD will file a police report against Defense Minister Robert Kalinak. Or do they just send police officers to knock on my door in the morning for a seemingly standard procedure, which Kalinak is now doing?" — Nagy wrote on the social network.

He also recalled that the government of Robert Fico had purchased Bozena mine clearance systems, engineering equipment, various chemical detectors and more.

"The government bought them to send directly to Ukraine, without the consent of the armed forces. When the government of Eduard Heger, under me, the Minister of Defense, bought ammunition to send them directly to In Ukraine, as the government knew, the "smerists" (members of the Smer-SD party — EADaily) stated that this was a violation of the law and that I should be charged, prosecuted and imprisoned... Now Kalinak has done the same… So Kalinak should be in prison?
Or, rather, neither Kalinak nor Nagy committed a crime?" — said Nagy.

Recall, after coming to power at the end of 2023, the Fico government refused to supply Ukraine with weapons. At the same time, proceedings have begun in relation to past deliveries in the country, which threatens criminal prosecution of members of the previous cabinet. However, in October it became known that Bratislava decided to send Kiev five Bozhena mine clearance vehicles, as well as transport and medical evacuation equipment.
