New Delhi commented on the statement by US President Donald Trump about India's rejection of Russian oil, making it clear that they would buy oil from various sources. This was stated by the official representative of the Indian Foreign Ministry Randhir Jaiswal.

"India is a major importer of oil and gas.
Protecting the interests of the Indian consumer in an unstable energy situation is our constant priority. Our import policy is fully subordinated to this goal," Jaiswal said. — Ensuring stable energy prices and reliable supplies is a dual goal of our energy policy. This includes expanding our energy sources and diversifying to meet market conditions."

He added that the Trump administration has "shown interest" in deepening energy cooperation with India, "discussions are continuing." Referring to cooperation with the United States, the representative of the Foreign Ministry noted that the Indian side "has been striving for many years to expand energy purchases" in this country.

According to him, it cannot be done immediately, but the process has already begun and will be completed soon.
