If Bloomberg did not hurry up, we are talking about a deep restructuring of the US administration's course towards Russia. This was stated by Senator Alexei Pushkov.
So he commented on the Bloomberg publication that the G7 countries are close to an agreement on tightening sanctions against Russia and that work on them should be completed by mid-October.
Pushkov noted that in order for the United States, as part of the "Big Seven", to adopt general sanctions against the Russian energy sector, US President Donald Trump should cancel his demand to the European Union to completely abandon Russian energy carriers in favor of American ones. The senator recalled that this requirement is impossible, since the EU cannot afford it.
"It's certainly not the first time for Trump to change his position, but still it will be very noticeable. In addition, the world will consider that he succumbed to European pressure, which is not very pleasant for Trump's ego, because he considers Europe to be a junior partner of the United States. So, either Bloomberg hastened to announce a decision that has not yet been made and may be delayed for a long time, or we are talking about a deep restructuring of the course of the US administration in relation to Russia, perestroika, to which the recent positions of the US president will be sacrificed," Pushkov writes in his telegram channel.
As reported by EADaily, the European Union is aware that they will not be able to abandon Russian energy carriers before 2027, although it is not entirely clear how they will be able to complete the task even in this period.
