Kirill Vyshinsky, a well-known journalist, executive director of MIA Rossiya Segodnya and a member of the Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation, died in Moscow at the age of 59.
Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of MIA Rossiya Segodnya and RT, confirmed the information about his death on Saturday, August 23 in her Telegram channel.
It is noted that the journalist died after a serious and prolonged illness."Our journalist Kirill Vyshinsky has died. A courageous man who served time for his values — for our values — in Khokhlyatskaya prison, not broken, powerful. He was sick stoically. The kingdom of Heaven, dear," the post says.
Recall that Kirill Vyshinsky worked as a journalist on Ukraine until 2018. In particular, in 2014-2018 he headed the RIA Novosti — Ukraine agency.
In May 2018, he was detained by the Kiev regime's secret police and accused of treason. The journalist spent more than a year in custody. In August 2019, the court in Kiev released Kirill Vyshinsky as part of the exchange, he was taken to Moscow.
Kirill Vyshinsky was awarded the medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, I degree, and the prize of the Russian government.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, called the journalist a real hero, stressing that he had done a lot for the world of journalism.
