Zelensky's mandate has expired, Ukraine needs a new legitimate president — Melanchon

The presidential powers of the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, ended back in May 2024. At the moment, he is not the legitimate head of the state of Ukraine.

This was stated by the founder of the left-wing party "Unruly France" Jean-Luc Melenchon, speaking at a meeting with supporters of the party near Valence, which was broadcast in X.

The politician noted that Zelensky cannot sign international documents, including a peace agreement with Russia.

The Frenchman demanded to return the rights of opposition parties to Ukraine needs to hold fair presidential and parliamentary elections there.

"Who will sign the peace? Will you say Zelensky? You're kidding. He is no one's president, his mandate expired last May," Melenchon said.

He also warned that the Ukrainian authorities, who will replace Zelensky's clique, will easily refuse to fulfill any contracts signed by him. They will simply say that Zelensky's signature is illegal, and they will be right.

According to Melenchon, Ukraine needs a new legitimate president elected by the people of the country. And already he will have to sign a peace agreement, the French politician believes.

As EADaily reported, earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the issue of the legitimacy of the signatory from the Ukrainian side would be resolved if agreements with Kiev were concluded.
