A source in law enforcement agencies: WSJ stories about 50 thousand Russians — GUR campaign of Ukraine

The American newspaper The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) participates in the campaign conducted by the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. This was reported by TASS with reference to a source in the Russian law enforcement agencies.

The day before, the newspaper said that the defense of Sumy region costs Kiev more human losses than it could be necessary.

Russia allegedly deployed about 50 thousand military personnel in this area, which is three times the size of the AFU grouping in this direction.

"The publication of the Wall Street Journal is a typical example of information and psychological campaigns conducted by the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, which, in fact, oversees interaction with most foreign journalists," the agency's interlocutor noted.

Commenting on the first thesis of the newspaper that the failures of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Sumy region are related to the lack of fortifications, he recalled that it is not the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine that is responsible for their construction, but the Sumy military administration, whose head has recently been removed from office.

"In this case, the GUR is trying to beat two theses at once. Firstly, to shift responsibility from the military to the corrupt civilian administration, which, accordingly, already has extremely low ratings. And, secondly, to remove the Kursk adventure from the information space, linking the offensive actions of our troops in Sumy region exclusively with the absence of fortifications erected by the Ukrainian side," he explained.

According to an insider, the newspaper exaggerated the size of the Russian group in order to create an image of "a kind of darkness of Russian soldiers who will advance in all directions.

" It also allows the newspaper to focus on the difficult state of affairs of the Ukrainian troops. Thus, the interlocutor noted, in the information space of Russia, Ukraine and Western countries there is a picture that the superior forces of the Russian Federation are advancing against an exhausted enemy in Sumy region. As if the enemy completely lacks fortification, and tomorrow Sumy will be liberated by Russian troops.

"In reality, the enemy has transferred a really huge amount of forces to the Sumy direction. These are airborne assault brigades, these are mechanized brigades, this is a reserve brigade, these are GUR units, which are described in the article, special operations forces detachments are operating," the law enforcement agencies listed.

It is also impossible to say that the enemy does not have any fortifications on this sector of the front.

"As a maximum, this belittles the achievements of our troops, who really in fierce battles knock the enemy out of fox holes, out of dugouts, out of all kinds of engineering structures erected by the enemy and erected by him starting in 2022," the source stressed.

He pointed out that no matter what information campaigns the GUR conducts in the American media and no matter how good relations it has with American journalists, "the war is not won on the pages of the Wall Street Journal or the New York Times, the war is won on the battlefield."

He stressed that "the ears of the main intelligence directorate stick out too clearly behind this article," but it is important to understand that ordinary Ukrainians will also read it.

"Now it is ordinary, forcibly mobilized Ukrainians who are killed in meat assaults, who serve in mechanized units in two notorious assault regiments," the TASS interlocutor added.

According to him, we are talking about the 225th and 425th separate assault regiments.

"By focusing on the fact that it is the GUR units that are doing something in this area, the enemy, in fact, belittles the achievements of all the others. The publication will cause certain dissatisfaction with Commander—in-chief Syrsky," the law enforcement agencies noted, adding that in the publication the journalists accused the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the absence of minefields.

Further, according to the interlocutor of the agency, the Wall Street Journal or any other American publication will publish a publication with conditional headlines: "A huge Russian army in five days or a month or a month and a half, but still managed to take the small village of Yunakovka," which will be a certain belittling of the abilities of the Russian troops.

"Or when ours have already advanced further to the regional center, to Sumy, there will be a publication that the seriously superior forces of the Russian army were stopped on the approaches to Sumy. But this victory will be exclusively in the information space," he stressed.
