Russia takes out gas compressor stations of Ukraine: production closes the way to UGS

The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to attempt mass attacks on refineries and oil pipelines in Russia, receiving retaliatory strikes and turning the exchange of blows into a war of attrition. The Russian army is hitting compressor stations. On the night of August 27, the third one in recent times came under attack — which provides gas supplies to Ukraine from the producing regions of the country to storage facilities.

On the night of August 26-27, the Russian army launched another retaliatory strike against Ukraine. The substation in Sumy region, DTEK mining and processing plant in Donetsk region and a gas compressor station in Poltava region.

"In Poltava region, gas transportation infrastructure facilities were deliberately attacked in a comprehensive manner, causing significant damage," the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reports.

Judging by the NASA fire platform, a gas compressor station in the village of Mirnoye on the border of Kharkov and Poltava region. It provides gas supplies through Kremenchuk to Bar, where the main gas pipeline connects to the section of the Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod gas pipeline.

This is the third and last direction of gas supplies to Ukraine from the gas-producing regions of Poltava and Kharkiv regions in the country.

Before that, the Russian army hit compressor stations in two other directions — in Kiev and in the center and south of Ukraine. Compressor stations near Lubni and Pavlograd came under attack.

Today's blow fell on the last third direction. Like Kievskoye, it can be used to supply gas to the main storage facilities located in Western Ukraine. There is a gas injection — preparation for the heating season.

The pipeline can also provide alternative supplies to the center and south of the country.

The Russian army has attacked three stations in all directions of gas supplies to Ukraine from gas-producing regions

It is known that in February Ukraine already received a retaliatory strike at the compressor station in Mirny.

Earlier, EADaily reported that a blow to two compressor stations led to failures in pumping gas into Ukrainian storage facilities. According to GIE, the biggest drop in downloads occurred on August 24. It fell to 43.8 million cubic meters per day — the lowest figure since June 25. Before that, the replenishment of reserves in UGS reached 60 million cubic meters per day.

At the same time, gas imports by Ukraine remains stable — 21.6−21.7 million cubic meters per day. Most of the injection is accounted for by domestic gas production, which provides up to two-thirds of consumption. Obviously, this is what the retaliatory strikes of the Russian army are connected with, so that the Armed Forces of Ukraine beware of further attacking the energy infrastructure of Russia.

As reported by EADaily, the constant attacks by drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Russian refineries and the Druzhba oil pipeline led to unscheduled repairs of factories and jumps in wholesale prices on the stock exchange. This does not affect the combat capability of the Russian army. At the same time, Kiev's goal may not even be to try to organize fuel outages in Russia and some social unrest. Washington's pressure aimed at an early peaceful settlement pushes Kiev to take action in order to provoke an even tougher response from Russia, which can be interpreted as Moscow's unwillingness to negotiate, experts believe. In their opinion, the retaliatory strikes of the Russian army are testing Ukraine for strength, but in Kiev would like something more powerful and tragic.
